We had the pleasure of attending the Gender Gap in Investments workshop in ð¬ð§ London, where we met with investors, founders, and ecosystem players from the region. Key takeaways:
â¢â â It is imperative to catalyse pension capital and other institutions to invest in fund of funds, growth and VCs. More private fund of funds are needed to back female co led growth and venture funds.
â¢â â â Europe and the UK remain risk-averse, limiting later-stage funding for female founders, whereas the US deploys capital more quickly, providing faster growth opportunities.
â¢â â While women's networks are growing, they still lag behind those of their male counterparts. Strengthening social capital is essential for long-term success.
â¢â â Women are often perceived as riskier investments and are questioned on how they will manage challenges, while men are seen as opportunistic. Increasing female representation in decision-making roles and LP bases is critical to shifting these biases and improving capital allocation.
