Online session: informal 75-minute online preparatory working session ahead of the Peer-To- Peer dialogue for DG Grow

Purpose: based on the topics identified in the High-Level Roundtable, to gain factual, in-depth understanding of how pension funds can participate in venture and growth financing based on case studies and experience; to identify the EU-level levers that can increase institutional allocations; and to further identify topics and design the structure for further discussions

Agenda: 

- Educational briefing: overview of global/EU models: direct VC, fund-of-funds, blended finance, guarantees, scale-up funds and the concept of “investable window”; 

- Role of ecosystem enablers: role of FoFs in boosting the EU venture and start-up landscape and creating mechanisms that allow pension participation without requiring large internal teams. 

- EU-level levers: discussion of concrete tools (policy alignment, guarantees, first loss, co- investment platforms) + feedback on the Commission's actual proposals.
