Some of the best conversations in venture capital don't happen on a panel or in a pitch meeting. They happen over lunch, when the agenda finally slows down enough for people to actually talk.
That was the idea behind The Investor's Table, our LP-GP Lunch for Women & Men Allies in VC, which took place during SuperReturn week in Berlin. The lunch brought together a carefully chosen group of investors from across European venture for two unhurried hours of the kind of honest, high-level dialogue that's rare to find anywhere else on a conference programme as packed as SuperReturn.
Who Made It Possible
The lunch was co-hosted by two organizations deeply embedded in the venture and private equity world:
Goodwin, a global law firm with a team of more than 180 venture-focused lawyers who represent over 1,200 emerging companies and 200 venture capital and private equity firms, bringing deep market knowledge and relationships to the table.
The European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the European Investment Bank Group, which designs risk-sharing financial instruments that help banks, funds, and lenders finance SMEs and infrastructure across Europe, with a particular focus on advancing gender equality and expanding access to finance for underrepresented groups.
The gathering was organized by European Women in VC, the region's leading network of female-led and co-led VC funds, working to increase the number of women in VC management roles through access to LPs and advocacy work. This includes its recent flagship report on pension fund attitudes toward venture and growth in Europe, produced in collaboration with Venture Connections and Pensions for Purpose.
What Made It Work
Unlike the rapid-fire networking that defines most of SuperReturn week, this lunch was built for depth: a small, intentional guest list, real LP-GP dialogue, and enough time to let conversations actually go somewhere. That combination, plus the trust built by co-hosts with deep roots in the venture ecosystem, is what turned a single lunch into something guests are already asking us to repeat.
