European Parliament's project on the Gender Gap in Investments

🇪🇺🇧🇪 Nov 4th marked a major milestone for the European Parliament's project on the Gender Gap in Investments, initiated by MEP Lina Gálvez.

We joined European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) - which managed the project, for the final hashtag#studyhashtag#launch event gathering over 100 policymakers, investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders.

⭐️ During the event we heard fantastic keynote speeches from MEP Lina Galvez, Jean-David Malo (European Commission), and Stéphane Ouaki 🇺🇦🇪🇺 (EISMEA)

💬 Katerina Svickovaá (DG RTD, European Commission), Véronique Jacq (Bpifrance), Lucrezia Lo Sordo (Invest Europe), Louis Geoffroy-Terryn (Dealroom.co) in a panel moderated by Marta Wysoczynska (EISMEA) discussed on the power of data to drive systemic change in R&I and venture ecosystems.

The research team from CSES I Centre for Strategy & Evaluation I Services: Mark Whittle, Christine Stedtnitz, Lili Juhasz, Nadine Whelpton, together with our European Women in VC team Kasia Piasecki, and Alicja Stelmach presented the key takeaways from the research, as well as policy recommendations.

Among them:
📊 Establishing a harmonised EU data repository
🧩 Mobilising institutional capital, including pension and insurance funds, through gender-responsive mandates within EIF, EIB, and InvestEU.
🔍 Building connective platforms and early pipelines, embedding STEM and entrepreneurial education from an early age to increase the number of women in deep tech.

🎙️ Hrönn Greipsdottir (Nýsköpunarsjóðurinn Kría - New Business Venture Fund Kria, Hanadi Jabado DL (Sana Capital), Ulrike Kostense (Beyrich), CAIA (Invest-NL), in a panel moderated by Alain Heureux reflected on the current state if play and explored practical steps the EU and its partners can take to scale impact and close the gender funding gap across Member States.

📈 and Louis Geoffroy-Terryn (Dealroom.co) unveiled the Gender Gap Europe platform prototype, setting the foundation for EU-wide data transparency.
